GAME RECAP: Barnstormers vs. Oilers
DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers were downed in the final seconds in a 49-48 loss to Tulsa Saturday at the Casey's Center in Des Moines.
After the Oilers took a 14-0 lead, Iowa quickly countered with touchdown runs by both quarterback Noah Bodden and running back David Elder.
Iowa fought its way back into things on the defensive side of the ball by way of three interceptions.
Trenton McGhee and Trevon Pope each had one and Jon Adams Jr. earned his team-leading fifth pick of the season.
Bodden left the game with an injury just before halftime and was relieved by Dante Aviles-Santos, who finished with a pair of rushing touchdowns down the stretch.
Richie Coffey recovered a Tulsa onside kick attempt in the 3rd quarter, and Iowa held steady with the Oilers, but it wasn't enough to escape with a victory.
The Barnstormers will return to the field on Saturday, July 11 to take on the Green Bay Blizzard at 7 p.m. at the Casey's Center.
