GAME RECAP: Barnstormers @ Steamwheelers
DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers opened the 2026 campaign in a 46-25 loss to Quad City on Saturday to fall to 0-1 on the year.
Iowa started things off with the lead, with kicker Gabriel Reed converting on a field goal to put Iowa up 3-0.
After Quad City fumbled the ensuing kickoff, Iowa took advantage.
Quarterback Harry Roubidoux found wideout Nasjzae Bryant-Lelei for his first touchdown as a Barnstormer to give Iowa a 9-0 lead.
Quad City would go on a 27-3 run, capped off with a rushing touchdown to take a 27-12 lead on Iowa with 20 seconds remaining in the first half.
Roubidoux found a wide-open Kurtis Ravenel for a 30-yard touchdown, to close things up before halftime.
Quad City was able to tap in a field goal as time expired to go into the break up 30-18.
Iowa nearly got off the field on the opening drive in the second half, but a roughing the passer penalty kept Quad City on the field. A deuce tacked on to a Steamwheelers touchdown saw Iowa looking at a 39-18 deficit.
Roubidoux found Demonte Martin for the touchdown, making the score 39-25 Quad City with just under four minutes left in the third quarter.
On the ensuing possession, Barnstormers defensive back Trevon Pope picked off Quad City quarterback Daquan Neal, giving Iowa the ball back. But a three-and-out stalled out Iowa's momentum.
Iowa's defense pushed Quad City to 4th down on the ensuing drive before the Steamwheelers would find the end zone to take a 46-25 lead with 10:02 remaining.
An interception eventually gave Quad City the ball back, and the Steamwheelers would go on to win 46-25.
