DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Barnstormers (2-5) will travel 171 miles across highway I-80 to battle the Quad City Steamwheelers (3-4) at Vibrant Arena Friday at 7:05 pm.

Just when the Iowa defense needed to make a play down 21-3 against the Massachusetts Pirates, linebacker Ian McBorrough and defensive lineman Tyler Tate got their first sacks of the season. This completely shifted momentum as the Barnstormers went on a 30-13 second-half run to capture its second win of the season, 42-34. 

Newly acquired wide receiver Keshaun Taylor broke out for 63 yards and two touchdowns while running back Robert Washington continued his stellar campaign with 30 yards and two trips to the end zone.

Quad City snapped its two-game skid against the Sioux Falls Storm last week after an impressive showing from quarterback Mike Irwin who had five total touchdowns. Running back Edward Vander, the IFL's fifth-leading rusher, had a standout performance through the air with a season-high 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The Barnstormers got their first win 55-53 against the Steamwheelers at home earlier this month. This will also be the second matchup between these two teams in less than two weeks.

Iowa's defense held Vander to just six rushing yards, but the unit will need to stay vigilant as it allowed Vander's second-best receiving performance with 75 yards and a score. Offensively, the Barnstormers will need to be wary of defensive back Trey Smith, who is third in the IFL in interceptions, one of which came in these teams' last matchup.
