Barnstormers Add Two More to Roster

10/13/2010 9:02 AM -

DES MOINES – Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach and Director of Football Operations John Gregory announced late Tuesday evening that the Arena Football League team has reached agreement with WR Todd Blythe for the 2011 season. Blythe returns to the Barnstormers following an impressive rookie campaign in 2010. The Indianola, IA native is best known for his career at Iowa State where he continues to hold numerous receiving records, including most career touchdown receptions with 31.

Blythe (6-5, 212) joined the Barnstormers prior to last season and had an immediate impact. Although a foot injury limited him to just 12 games, he managed to record 66 receptions for 866 yards and 22 touchdowns. By the end of the year, Blythe had established himself as the Barnstormers number two receiver.

Blythe red-shirted his initial year at Iowa State (’03) before becoming a permanent part of the Cyclones offensive attack in 2004. Over his four-year career at Iowa State, Blythe recorded 176 receptions for0 3,096 yards and 31 touchdowns. He was named to the big 12 all rookie team in 2004 and to the big-12 all-first team in 2005.

"I’m extremely excited to once again have Todd on our roster for the 2011 season. He will provide our Quarterbacks a big target, and I think he’s going to continue to develop into one of the Arena Football League’s top wide receivers," said Gregory.

Also this week Coach Gregory announced that the Arena Football league franchise has reached agreement with Quarterback Bryan Lee-Lauduski. Lee-Lauduski re-joins the Barnstormers for 2011, following after a year off. He previously played with Iowa in 2009, where he unfortunately spent most of the year on Injured Reserve following an early season injury. This will be his first season playing in the Arena Football League.

Lee-Lauduski (6-4, 210) began his college career in 2004 at UC Davis, where he saw limited action over two seasons. In 2006 he transferred to Southern Oregon, where started 16 games during the next two seasons. His best year was in 2007, when he completed 187 passes for 2083 yards and 17 touchdowns in just 9 games. In 2008, Lee-Lauduski was named to the pre-season NAIA All-Independent second team.

Blythe and Lee-Lauduski will be among a group of 35 players that report to the Barnstormers training camp this February to compete for a spot with the club. The 2011 Arena Football League season kicks off in March, with the schedule to be announced in the coming weeks. Don’t forget that 2011 Iowa Barnstormers season tickets remain on sale for as low as $117.00 per seat! Call 515-633-2255 or visit www.theiowabarnstormers.com for more information.
