Iowa Barnstormers Sign Former Hawkeye
Lebron Daniel Joins Barnstormers Defense
DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers have signed former Iowa Hawkeye and defensive lineman Lebron Daniel, Head Coach Joe Brannen announced today.
Lebron Daniel (6-2, 250, University of Iowa) played four years of collegiate football at defensive end and outside linebacker for the Iowa Hawkeyes. A redshirt senior in 2011, Daniel saw action in 11 games and recorded 16 solo, tackles, 14 assists, one quarterback sack, and two pass break-ups.
The Cleveland native signed-on to play the 2013 season with the Green Bay Blizzard (IFL). Daniel started all fourteen games and tallied 40 total tackles, 6 sacks, 9 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.
“Lebron brings us an athletic player at the defensive line position,” said Head Coach Brannen. “He is a guy who can play the run game and has a motor that goes nonstop when pressuring the quarterback. I am excited to bring him back to Iowa to continue his football career.”
The Iowa Barnstormers open their 2016 season on Friday, February 26th in a home matchup versus the Green Bay Blizzard. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. CST at Wells Fargo Arena.
