Thornton Returns to Barnstormers
LB CJ Thornton Re-Signs for 2021 Season
DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers have re-signed defensive lineman CJ Thornton to the 2021 roster, Head Coach Ameer Ismail announced today.
Thornton (6-1, 230, Davenport University) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Collegiately, Thornton began his career at Los Angeles Valley College collecting 127 total tackles, three sacks, four forced fumbles, and three interceptions in two years with the Monarchs before transferring to Davenport University. Thornton spent two years at Davenport University appearing in 21 total games where he collected 144 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. In his senior season, Thornton led the team with 76 tackles and was named Honorable Mention All-GLIAC at linebacker.
Thornton initially signed on with the Barnstormers for the 2020 season, earning a spot on the final 25-man roster following the team's 2020 Training Camp before the season's cancelation due to Covid-19.
Thornton will return to Des Moines to re-enter Training Camp for the 2021 season in the Spring.
