Balentine Earns IFL Honors
WR Ryan Balentine Earns Player of the Week Honors

DES MOINES - Iowa Barnstormers wide receiver Ryan Balentine was named the Indoor Football League’s Offensive Player of the Week for Week 8, the League announced today.

Balentine (6'1, 180, Southern Mississippi) earned IFL Offensive Player of the Week Honors after leading the Barnstormers in a victory over the Bismarck Bucks in week 8. Balentine found his way into the end zone on four occasions in the victory. Balentine who currently leads the IFL in reeceptions, added eight more catches to his total this week. Balentine finished his night against the Bucks with eight receptions for 43 yards and four touchdowns. It was an exceptionally historical night for Balentine as he moved into second place all-time on the IFL’s career receptions list with 411 career receptions. Balentine also now ranks fourth all-time in receiving yards with 4,781 and all purpose-yards with 6,585.

Balentine and the Barnstormers will travel to Sioux Falls to face the Storm in week 9.

The Indoor Football League awarded defensive back Antwan Smith of the Bismarck Bucks with Defensive Player of the Week, while kicker Ernesto Lacayo of the San Diego Strike Force earned Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Barnstormers return to Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday, May 4 to face in-state rivals the Cedar Rapids River Kings. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05pm. It’s Star Wars Night!
