DES MOINES - The Quad City Steamwheelers (5-2) won, 60-34, over the Iowa Barnstormers (0-6) at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, May 6.

The first quarter started off quickly as Quad City quarterback EJ Hilliard Jr. finds wide receiver CJ Windham Jr. in the endzone. Kick by Chase Allbaugh made it 7-0. After a Barnstormers turnover, Hilliard Jr. connected with Windham Jr., 14-0. The Barnstormers broke the silence after quarterback Zach Reader threw it to running back Antonio Wimbush. Successful kick by Gabriel Rui made it 14-7. After a long kick return, Quad City running back Shane Simpson rushed it in to make the game 21-7. Quad City kept adding on. Hilliard Jr. found Windham Jr. in the endzone, 28-7.

The second quarter was a stellar defensive performance by both teams. Quad City running back Simpson rushed for a 6-yard touchdown, made the game 35-7. After some empty possessions by the Barnstormers and Quad City, Quad City Hilliard Jr. rushed for another touchdown. PAT was unsuccessful by Chase Allbaugh, 41-7.

The third quarter started slow, but Barnstormers gained some traction after an interception by cornerback Dashawn Benton.  Barnstormers Zach Reader threw a perfect pass to connect with wide receiver Keshaun Taylor, Barnstormers trailed 41-14. Hilliard Jr. found wide receiver Mike Carrigan in the back of the endzone, increasing the Steamwheelers lead to 48-14. Quad City kicker Allbaugh kicked a deuce to add two points, 50-14

Quad City piled on, corner back Darreon Jackson returns an interception, 57-14. Barnstormers respond with a Zach Reader rushing touchdown. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful, Barnstormers trailed 57-20. Quad City kicker Chase Allbaugh made a 30-yard field goal that made the game 60-20. Reader then found wide receiver Laquvionte Gonzalez in the end zone. The two-point conversion was successful, 60-28. Reader then connected to Wimbush once again to end the game, 60-34.
