Barnstormers Win in Billings
Barnstormers Beat Wolves 38-27

DES MOINES-
The Iowa Barnstormers (3-1) defeated the Billings Wolves (2-3) 38-27 Saturday night at the Rim Rock Auto Arena in Billings, Montana.

The Barnstormers were sluggish out of the gate with their first drive ending with a fumbled snap on a long Field Goal attempt. The Wolves were able to capitalize on good field position finding their way into the end zone on a short two yard pass from quarterback Jawad Yatim to receover Chris Gant taking the lead 7-0. The first quarter ended on a high note for the Barnstormers as DB Alex Bartlett intercepted a pass in the end zone getting Iowa the ball back to start the second quarter.

The second quarter was where the Barnstormers found their groove scoring on three straight possessions. After the Bartlett interception, quarterback Donovan Porterie found receiver Brady Roland on a 42 yard toss to tie the game up 7-7. On the next possession Porterie connected with receiver Lemans Casimier from 13 yards out to give the Barnstormers a 13-7 lead. Porterie then showed of his running skills on the following Iowa possession scampering in to the end zone from 3 yards out 20-7. The Wolves answered however with under two minutes in the quarter left scoring on a 56 yard kickoff return for a touchdown 20-13.

At the start of the third quarter the Barnstormers quickly found themselves once again in a tie game when Billings’ Jawad Yatim made his way into the end zone on a 3 yard run 20-20. The Barnstormers offense quickly struck back as running back Robbie Rouse bulldozed his way into the end zone from 19 yards out giving Iowa a 26-20 lead heading into the fourth. The Barnstormers kept momentum starting off the fourth quarter with another touchdown pass from Porterie to Casimier this time from eight yards out (32-20). The Wolves closed the gap on the following possession as Yatim found receiver Willie Downs for the touchdown (32-27). The Barnstormers sealed the victory with an eight yard touchdown pass from Porterie to receiver Lucas Hefty.

The Barnstormers (3-1) travel to Spokane next Friday April 1 to take on the Empire at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. That game kicks off at 9:00 p.m. CDT. The Barnstormers then return home on April 9 to face the Nebraska Danger at Wells Fargo Arena. Tickets are available.
