The BARNSTORMERS Last Week:

The Barnstormers came out to a rocky start in their first season contest against the Pittsburgh Power last week falling to them 58-28.  Although the Stormers’ dominated in nearly every statistical category including rushing yards, passing yards and total offensive possessions, they struggled to pull out a win.  The Power was the first team on the board with a touchdown at the seven minute mark of the first quarter.  The Barnstormers fought to tie up the score twice during the first half but went to the locker room at half time trailing 28-14.

The beginning of the second half brought back some hope for the visitors with a touchdown just under the twelve minute mark, narrowing the gap to 28-21.  However they were only playing catch up, for once the Power scored their fifth touchdown, the Stormers’ couldn’t manage to bounce back.  A late interception thrown by Brad Banks with only 00:24 left on the clock sealed the deal for the Barnstormers as they took their first loss of the 2011 season, 58-28 to the Pittsburgh Power.

The SHOCK Last Week:

The defending AFL Champions were also on the losing side last week as they fell to the Cleveland Gladiators 61-55.  A fairly close game throughout its entirety, the Spokane Shock trailed by as many as twenty points midway through the fourth quarter.  Back-to-back touchdowns brought the Shock within 6 points at 54-48 with 2:13 to go.  But the Gladiators didn’t back down scoring yet again at just under a minute left to play.  The relentless Shock fought back like champions but fell short and the Gladiators took the victory, 61-55 over the Shock.
