Barnstormers Clipped by Danger
Iowa loses 43-32 in Nebraska

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers (3-2) lost to the Nebraska Danger (4-1) 43-32 Friday night at Heartland Event Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.

At the start of the first quarter, the Barnstormer’s quarterback Drew Powell completed a touchdown pass to wide receiver Ryan Balentine to take a 7-0 lead. Nebraska’s Korey Ringer ran the kickoff all the way for a Danger touchdown, but the PAT was no good, 7-6. On the next two Danger drives kicker Brad Hatfield successfully kicked back to back field goals to take a 12-7 lead. Powell stormed the Barnstormers down the field and finished a touchdown pass to wide receiver Jonathan Duarte taking a two-point lead. The Danger finished the first half with quarterback Jesse Scroggins connecting with wide receiver Eric Thomas for the touchdown and making the two-point conversion with the Danger leading 20-14.

At the start of the third quarter, Hatfield kicked his third successful field goal of the day giving the Danger a 9-point lead. Scroggins found receiver Eric Thomas open in the end zone for another Nebraska touchdown making it 30-14. Barnstormers defensive back Rocky Hayes returned the kickoff all the way for a touchdown cutting the lead down to 10. Shortly after, Nebraska's Scroggins connected with Thomas for their third touchdown pass of the night, but the PAT was no good making it 36-20. Powell answered quickly by completing a pass to Ryan Balentine for a touchdown, but the two-point conversion was no good keeping it at 10-point game. Scroggins threw his fourth touchdown of the day to Danger receiver Kenzel Doe extending the lead to 17. Iowa’s Powell found Balentine in the end zone for a touchdown, but the two-point conversion was no good making the final score 43-32.

The Barnstormers will return to Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday, April 14, 2018 to once again face the Nebraska Danger.
